Much of the work I do is discreet.
My job is to make my clients better — to help them stand-out — without calling attention to myself.
Here are a few clients I can talk about – and what I did for them.

AbbVie Global Marketing Team:

“Kathryn provides excellent feedback that can be immediately implemented. Her coaching leads to successful presentations!”

Equinox National Fitness Clubs:

“Kathryn was great!”

Super League Gaming:

“With very little lead-time, I reached out to almost 100 bloggers across the country to get placements promoting Super League Gaming. In response – they had huge ticket sales.”

Emilia Serrano – TV/FILM Writer:

“I was working on a summer project for Super League Gaming. Before we landed in Chicago, I knew Kathryn would be my saving grace. Her connections, her media savvy, her organization, and her quickness is an asset… she is born with incredible business skills and her recommendations for media were localized and strategic. Awesome. She handled the hard stuff with ease, and when I needed last minute assistance, onsite in Chicago, she said “I got this. Tell me time and location.” And just like the fairy Godmother of Everything, she granted that wish too. Because of this, I’ve hired her for more projects and am already recommending her to my colleagues in Chicago and beyond.”

Mike Minton, Consulting Leader, Project Mgmt & Quality Specialist:

“Kathryn worked with me in one of my volunteer businesses to help me build a strategy and stimulate growth in the business. She is an exceptionally insightful and talented media expert, as well as one of the hardest working individuals I’ve ever met. Her passion for learning made it easy to bring her up to speed on the ins/outs of my business, then plugged in to build a promotion strategy and help execute. I learned a ton from her along the way, and as a direct result of her work, more than tripled my promotional/media reach in less than six months. Kathryn continues to be among my most trusted advisors. Her track record of success stories continues to grow.”

Michael Ziener, Executive Nonprofit Leader, Navy Veteran, Consultant and Public Speaker:

“When I need the best in Chicago for media coaching, executive production, TV production/personality or scripting, editing and telling “THE STORY”; I go to Kathryn Janicek! There is no one else in the country I would rely on for my media and production strategies than Kathryn. Since my time as CEO at Susan G. Komen for the Cure, I have watched this executive producer lead market 3’s top morning news show, direct and create amazing and compelling stories for TV and global corporations as well as volunteer her limited spare time to better her community by helping nonprofits close to her heart. From cancer to military organizations, to businesses large and small; Kathryn will assess, study and then create your communications strategy and then visually align it with your desired message. She will collaboratively design and produce your TV or production needs that will drive response, ROI and evoke emotion. I have seen many media professionals in my experience as a leader in the nonprofit space and Kathryn continues to rise above and exceed all expectations.”

Every Business Has a Story

My job is to produce the best YOU. From presentation training to interview coaching, I work with clients from all backgrounds to help tell their stories through video. Recently, my crew shot, edited, and produced this video, showcasing a major healthcare software company. As you’ll see, this video showcases company executives and some of their top clients.

Family Travel with Colleen Kelly

Produced and directed several shows for Family Travel with Colleen Kelly including episodes featuring Scotland, Hawaii and the Florida Keys. Family Travel with Colleen Kelly airs on PBS in the United States – and in several other countries. The show is the first ever dedicated to traveling with families of all ages.

While I was the head of communications and the spokesperson for Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office – I had the responsibility of answering to all media requests.

Most times — the sheriff’s office made news when there was crime to report. I wanted to tell the story of all the work the deputies did for the people of Hennepin County, Minnesota.

Here is one of the stories I pitched to the local media – and helped develop. This aired on KSTP in Minneapolis. KSTP is the local ABC affiliate.

The story highlights the Crisis Intervention Training the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office provided for the sheriff’s deputies to better serve the increasing numbers of mentally ill people inside the jail.

Facebook Friends Share the Christmas Spirit

Winner of an Emmy for Outstanding Achievement for Interactivity (Social Media)

This story was a TON of work – and so worth it.

Not just because we won an Emmy for the story – but, because we were able to help a family terribly in need.

Zoraida Sambolin wanted to help a family for Christmas. I reached out on our very popular NBC 5 Today Morning Facebook page — and asked for help.

Our Facebook friends came out in force – offering donations and they’re own blood, sweat and yes, tears.

You need to watch this story… it’s a good one.

Cubs Home Opener

These are highlights from our coverage of one of the Chicago Cubs Home Openers I managed when I was the executive producer at NBC Chicago (WMAQ).

As a Chicago Cubs fan, I loved putting together this show. I booked all the live shots and interviews – worked with the Chicago Cubs to coordinate guests and segments — managed all the reporters, anchors, producers and writers… to make sure it was a show any Chicago Cubs fan would be proud to watch.
